Ways to prevent COVID-19 from invading homes

BY Bridge Estate

Although the COVID-19 pandemic situation is believed to be quite under control and very admirably so, but we can not be complacent. Whatever you have been doing to protect your health and hygiene, you must continue to do the same. These include the wearing of face masks, face shields and gloves, as well as washing your hands as often as you can throughout the day to ensure that the virus will find it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to get to you.

However, one fact we can not forget is that the virus does not simply remain outside a house. They can enter your home on your body or on objects you have brought into the house. This is especially the case now that many people have gone back to work in the offices. Therefore, in order to take the precautions to the next level, it is necessary that we should consider the health and hygiene, and safety in the home to be as important as any other aspects.

Today, we are introducing two methods to eradicate germs and viruses inside the house to make it clean and devoid of such harmful microorganisms:

1. Ozone fumigation:
Ozone that we often hear of is oxygen that is energized by UV ray giving it a notable property of being able to attach itself to microorganisms and killing them as well as getting rid of dust particles in the air very quickly. Therefore, ozone fumigation to kill bacteria and viruses have become a popular method in cleaning the interior of a house thoroughly and easily by the technician who will spray the 100% gaseous ozone (O+++) with the characteristics of a white smoke in a room. The room is then closed to allow the ozone to do its job killing all offending microorganisms, especially viruses. After only 20 minutes each of the rooms in your house will be effectively disinfected.

This method is best for an area of not more than 30 square meters which may be your favorite private room or a small house with few entry points and sparse human traffic. This is so that you can more effectively control the area to prevent anyone from bringing home the viruses too easily.

Strong points:
• Quick and convenient

• Best for an area of not more than 30 square meters
• Inexpensive

2. COVID-19 disinfecting fumigation:
This is done through the spraying of disinfectant. This disinfectant is strong and highly effective in killing any microorganisms that we can not see with the naked eyes and can cause sickness in humans. Aside from being able to eradicate COVID-19 virus, the disinfectant can also kill viruses that cause bird flu, pneumonia, or foot & mouth disease. Prior to the fumigation, all the furniture and utensils in the room must be covered up as the disinfectant may cause irritation upon contact with human skin. The technician would spray the disinfectant and leave it in a closed room for 2-3 hours for thorough disinfection. After which, the windows are opened to allow for air circulation to dissipate the disinfectant. Your house is now free from disease-carrying microorganisms.

The disinfectant fumigation is more expensive than ozone fumigation and is suitable for areas as large as 1,000 square meters. The disinfectant remains effective for about one month, and it is appropriate for areas with high human traffic and more difficult to control, such as an office or a large house with many occupants.

Strong points:
• The disinfectant remains effective for up to 1 month
• Appropriate for areas as large as 1,000 square meters
• Good coverage and effective disinfection of viruses
